she reached out —
soft at first,
like a leaf leaning into light.
 
but the world is hungrier
than it seems.
 
skin split like overripe fruit.
muscle frayed into red silk.
her bones, white and quiet,
dissolved like salt in water.
 
still, she kept reaching.
still, she called it kindness.
 
but one day,
she pulled back.
gathered every loose thread,
every soft piece of herself
and stitched it back in place.
 
now, when she reaches,
it is not to be emptied —
but to hold.
